Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli sits alongside Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald every morning on NOVA 96.9 in Sydney and nationally from 6-7pm across the NOVA Network.
Working in radio, Wippa has found a platform to live out everything he’s ever dreamed of – including a Guinness World Record for launching a Volkswagen the greatest distance when he and Fitzy arranged the construction of a trebuchet. He’s also also broadcast with Fitzy from the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, managed to get the world’s smallest man to tour Sydney, invented the ‘Mup’ (a mint at the bottom of a coffee cup) and has been the man behind two one-off TV Shows ‘On the Couch With Wippa’ and ‘Up Reasonably Late with Fitzy & Wippa’.
Earlier this year he also faced his fear of heights when his mate Fitzy stitched him up on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Outta Here, leaving Wippa to walk across a tightrope suspended high over a South African dam with Paul ‘Chief’ Harragon. He still hasn’t quite forgiven Fitzy and no doubt there is a worthy revenge in the works.
Wippa is excited to run for Team Bandaged Bear in his third City2Surf this year and has one key tip for those racing this year - watch what you eat prior to the race. Wippa had to withdraw last year due to a severe bought of food poisoning from eating seafood the night before, and has said that he will more than make up for it this year with a blinding pace. Keep a look out for him along the course, he’ll probably need your words of encouragement to make it to Bondi!
