The Sun-Herald City2Surf presented by Westpac will return to its iconic course on Sunday August 11, with registrations for the world’s largest fun run opening today.
Over 80,000 people are expected to lace up their running shoes to walk, wheel, dance, jog and run the 14km course, with some of the nation’s youngest participants pushed comfortably along in their prams.
Now in its 49th year, the most anticipated running event in Australia continues to create an unbeatable community atmosphere, championing inclusion for people of all abilities and fitness levels, from toddlers to centenarians, walkers to piggy-back riders, those in wheelchairs, those smashing personal goals and those raising money for charities.
Fairfax Events & Entertainment Head of Sport, Sarah Young, said that City2Surf is the ultimate feel-good experience and an event to be enjoyed year-after-year.
“From the personal satisfaction of crossing the finish line, the health benefits of the training and the ability to give back to the community as a fundraising hero, there’s something for everyone to feel great about when you’re part of City2Surf, presented by Westpac. The entire city of Sydney, and all the accompanying stunning suburbs along the course, are buzzing with positivity and excitement, which is an amazing experience to feel first hand.”
Commencing in Sydney’s Hyde Park, the globally renowned course runs through the city’s streets, towards the challenging Heartbreak Hill, along New South Head and Military Road to finish along the coast Bondi Beach.
Reaching an incredible milestone in 2019, City2Surf will celebrate a decade-long partnership with presenting partner, Westpac who is proud to have a long-standing association with one of Australia’s biggest events.
Jason Green, Westpac State General Manager NSW said,
“Westpac is proud to celebrate 10 years as Presenting Partner for The Sun-Herald City2Surf and help to bring this iconic event to Sydney.
This year Westpac continues to support our charity partner for the event, the Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter Service, and its crew who are tirelessly dedicated to keeping local communities safe. We look forward to seeing the Sydney community come together for a cause close to their hearts and participate in the exciting race-day activities.”
