Race day is fast approaching and we thought you should know some important information to get you race day ready!

We encourage participants to arrive no more than 30 minutes prior to their race Start time.

Where is Race Bib Collection?

Participants who registered on or before Wednesday, May 9 will have their race bibs posted to them three to four weeks prior to the event.

Participants who registered between Thursday, May 10 and Tuesday, May 29 and did not purchase paid postage will be required to collect their race bib from the City2Surf Expo at ICC Sydney, Darling Harbour.

Participants who registered on or after Wednesday, May 30, will be required to collect their race bib from the City2Surf Expo.
Please bring a copy of your eTicket or SMS to show event staff at race bib collection. If for any reason you are unable to attend, a friend or family member can attend on your behalf.

Please note you are able to collect your race bib at any point over the three days, regardless of the time indicated on your registration form (this data is used as an indicator for resourcing).

Travelling on Event Day

Travel on public transport services is covered for City2Surf 2018 participants and volunteers. Simply present your race bib, Finisher's medallion or volunteers t-shirt to transport staff when boarding public transport. This includes:

  • Train services (bounded by Bomaderry, Goulburn, Bathurst and Dungog stations)
  • Regular and special event shuttle bus services
  • Ferry services
  • Light Rail services

Note: an additional station access fee applies for travel to or from Domestic and International Airport stations. Your event ticket does not include the access fee, so if you're travelling from these stations you'll need to pay the train station access fee.

Start 

Be race ready and know how to access your allocated Start Area.  We encourage participants to arrive no more than 30 minutes prior to their race Start time.

Course

The 2018 course will Start in Hyde Park and follow the same route through to the world famous Bondi Beach, passing through the beautiful Eastern Suburbs of Sydney as it has done since the Start line moved to College St in 1977.  View our Course Details page for all drink stations and course cut-off times.

Finish 

Once you cross the Finish Line please keep moving through the recovery area to receive your drink and Finisher’s medal, before heading into the event village. Make a day of it as there will be giveaways, free massages & cool down zones, live music and much more.

This year we will be offering participants the opportunity to drop their gear at the City2Surf Expo. If you are not able to drop your gear off at the expo prior to race day but would still like to use the gear service, you have the option to drop your belongings on race morning in Hyde Park North, between 5:45am & 7:00am.

No personal bags of any description (backpacks, purses, handbags) will be accepted. Do not leave any valuables such as wallets, keys or phones. The event will take care of your belongings, but no responsibility will be taken for valuables or clothing that are lost or damaged.

Please note, gear drop is not available for participants in the Orange Back of the Pack Start Group.

Raising Money

The Sun-Herald City2Surf presented by Westpac has raised over $36 million since 2008 when the fundraising tally was first recorded. This year City2Surf aims to help raise another $5,000,000 for more than 900 charities. Help us achieve our goal by fundraising or donating today!

Healthy & Safety

First aid stations are located at the Start and Finish as well as along the course, with teams located at the drink stations and roaming bike teams. View our Safety Information page for all important health and safety information for race day. 

Health Messages

NSW Health advises that people preparing for the City2Surf take simple precautions to ensure they stay healthy before and during the event including:

  • Staying well hydrated ahead of the event.

  • Avoiding alcohol, hot or sugar sweetened drinks.

  • Stay out of the sun during the hottest part of the day.

  • Wear sunscreen and reapply regularly according to instructions.

  • Wear a hat, sunglasses and weather-appropriate, loose fitting garments made from natural or synthetic fibres. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes.

  • Plan ahead – if you need to take specific medication, carry it with you in case you are delayed in getting home.

  • Check the weather forecast as conditions can change suddenly, and you may need to prepare for warm, cool or wet weather.

  • Signs of heat-related illness include confusion, dizziness, fainting, nausea, vomiting, weakness, headaches and sweating. People showing any of these signs should seek urgent medical attention available from St John’s Ambulance at the event or a local emergency department.
