Just 14 days remain until tens of thousands of runners will take to the world famous 14km City2Surf course between the Sydney CBD and Bondi Beach.
The City2Surf is set to welcome runners back to the streets of Sydney first time since 2019, with this year’s event to be held on Sunday 14 August.
The 2022 City2Surf will also be the 50th physical running of the event, after going virtual for the last two years.
Martin Mashford, Regional Director of The IRONMAN Group Oceania, organisers of the City2Surf, said that there is still plenty of time for people to be involved in the iconic event.
“We can’t wait to see tens of thousands of runners make their way from the CBD to Bondi Beach in two weeks’ time, it’s safe to say that this event has been a long time coming for all involved,” said Mashford. “For those who haven’t signed up yet now is the perfect time to dust off the running shoes and sign up to be a part of this event that means so much to the people of Sydney.
“The beauty of the City2Surf is that it’s an event that promotes being active and making your way along the course at your own pace, in your own way, we’re expecting to see some great costumes and plenty of fancy dress making for a colourful day out,” he said. “The atmosphere of the City2Surf is unbeatable, it’s a party from start to finish and we’re thrilled to be back in action this year for the 50th physical running of the world’s largest fun run.”
The City2Surf also provides a great opportunity for participants to raise much needed funds for charity, with more than $1.2million already raised ahead of the 2022 event.
“The event also plays an important role for numerous charitable organisations, with City2Surf runners raising nearly $49 million for charities in need since 2008,” said Mashford. “With two weeks left until runners hit the streets we look forward to our 2022 fundraising tally continuing to rise.”
