The world’s largest fun run has thrown its support behind today’s Global Running Day, encouraging the people of Sydney to get moving and get running.
Global Running Day is a worldwide celebration of running that encourages people of all ages and abilities to get moving, and with the City2Surf now 67 days away it’s the perfect time to commit to the iconic event.
Over 40,000 runners have already committed to being on the start line in August, with great support for the event after entries opened just over two months ago.
Renay Vreeken, City2Surf Race Director, said that Global Running Day provided a great opportunity for people to get training and sign up for this year’s event, to be held on Sunday 13 August.
“With today being Global Running Day it’s the perfect time to get into training and be ready to join tens of thousands of others for the world’s largest fun run,” said Vreeken. “The beauty of the City2Surf is that it’s open to people of all abilities, with people running, walking and even dancing their way from the CBD to Bondi Beach.
“We love the community atmosphere of this event, with it bringing people from all walks of life together and is a great celebration of being active,” she said. “Over the years the City2Surf has grown to be the biggest event of its kind and we can’t wait to welcome runners back to the streets of Sydney this August.
“The City2Surf holds a special place in the hearts of so many people in Sydney, it allows people to experience the best that Sydney has to offer and provides a great opportunity to come together and train for a common goal,” said Vreeken. “The event also plays an important role for numerous charitable organisations, with City2Surf runners raising over $51 million for charities in need since 2008, with the event aiming to raise over $3.5 million this year.”
To coincide with Global Running Day the City2Surf have launched a special offer, with entries for the 2023 event available at Early Bird Prices until 11.59pm on Thursday 8 June.
