Getting There

With extensive road closures and limited parking the best way to get to and from City2Surf is by public transport.

Early morning services will run across all transport modes to help you get to the start line. There are plenty of major public transport hubs within short walking distance of the start line around Hyde Park.

Public transport to the start line:

  • Red group: Use trains to Town Hall, St James or Museum stations, or light rail and buses to QVB/Town Hall
  • Green & Blue groups: Use trains to St James or Town Hall stations, light rail to Town Hall or buses to Elizabeth St
  • Pink & Yellow groups: Use trains to Museum or Town Hall stations, or light rail and buses to QVB/Town Hall
  • Orange: If arriving before 8.30am - Use trains to Martin Place, buses to Martin Place or Wynyard, and light rail services to Wynyard. If arriving after 8.30am - please head to Hyde Park North using trains to St James or Town Hall stations, light rail to Town Hall or buses to Elizabeth St

Express shuttle buses will also run from Bondi Beach (leaving from Bondi Rd near Sandridge St) to the city to get you to the start line.

Keep in mind that buses between the city and eastern suburbs will be diverting from their regular routes and using different stops while road closures are in place so make sure to plan ahead. If you are planning on bringing a pram, we kindly ask you fold down your pram before getting on the bus.

Limited early morning ferries to Circular Quay will be running on race morning. From there, walk or change for trains or light rail to get closer to the start line

Getting Home

Roads around the finish area at Bondi Beach remain closed until 4pm so the best way to get home is by public transport.

Dedicated event shuttle buses will run frequently from Campbell Pde at the southern end of Bondi Beach direct to Bondi Junction to help you get home. From Bondi Junction, you can connect with frequent trains or buses to continue your journey home.

Please keep in mind that shuttle buses from the beach will be in very high demand and queues are expected so be patient, or consider walking to Bondi Junction instead or enjoy the many local venues after your run to avoid the crowds! Check out the Finish Hub map on Event Day Info page.

Charter Buses

Planning on organising a chartered bus/coach for your group? Please take note of the below for layover and pickup

Charter Bus/Coach Layover

Charter bus and coach layover will be available in Rose Bay, in the kerbside lane on the eastern side of O’Sullivan Rd, between Bunyula Rd and Old South Head Rd, adjacent to Woollahra Golf Course.

Access the layover area via Birriga Rd, Bundarra Rd, right Blaxland Rd, right Bunyula Rd, right O’Sullivan Rd.

Buses and coaches are requested to park at the southern end of O’Sullivan Rd, closest to Old South Head Rd, in order of arrival. There are overhanging tree branches on the route and at the layover area only a single-decker bus can pass beneath. Double decker buses are not recommended. Bus and coach operators are responsible for checking the route and layover for vehicle suitability.

The group pick up point for charter buses and coaches is on the northern side of Blair St, Bondi Beach, between Glenayr Ave and Mitchell St, at the ‘Galilee Primary School, Blair St’ bus stop (stop ID: 202669). The bus stop can accommodate one bus at a time. Charter buses are not permitted to layover in the bus stop and should only relocate from O’Sullivan Rd when the group leader calls to advise the group is at the bus stop ready to depart.
A note for groups and charter bus and coach companies who have previously departed from Curlewis St: this pick-up location is not available. The Blair St bus stop replaces it.

*Bus and coach companies are responsible for assessing if the routes are suitable for the vehicles allocated to the charter group booking. Some streets have trees with overhanging branches along the routes and at the O’Sullivan Rd layover. Double-decker buses and some coaches may not be suitable. Transport for NSW is not responsible for any damage caused to buses or coaches due to trees or other items.
