The streets of Sydney are just seven days away from welcoming back the world’s largest fun run, the City2Surf, with the 14km course set to come alive with tens of thousands of runners next Sunday.
The 2022 City2Surf will be the 50th physical running of the event, after going virtual for the last two years.
The City2Surf is set to welcome runners back to the streets of Sydney for the first time since 2019, with the 2022 event to be held on Sunday 14 August.
Martin Mashford, Regional Director of The IRONMAN Group Oceania, organisers of the City2Surf, said that the final countdown is on till the return of the iconic event.
“With just a week left until the return of the City2Surf it’s all systems go and we can’t wait to welcome tens of thousands of runners back to the 14km course between the CBD and Bondi Beach next Sunday,” said Mashford. “The people of Sydney have been waiting for the City2Surf to come back and we’re thrilled that we’re in a position to hold the 50th physical running of the world’s largest fun run.
“For those who haven’t signed up yet but are keen to be a part of the action entries will remain open until the morning of the event,” he said. “Get your entries in with plenty of time and join in on what will be a great day out in Sydney.”
The City2Surf also provides an ideal opportunity for runners to raise much needed funds for charity, with more than $1.6 million already raised for over 300 organisations ahead of the 2022 event.
“The event also plays an important role for numerous charitable organisations, and since 2008 City2Surf runners have now raised more than $50 million for charities,” said Mashford. “With a week left until runners hit the streets we look forward to our 2022 fundraising tally continuing to rise.”
